In the wake of the Home Security Freedom Act of 2034, demand for automated domicile defense quickly created an industry several times bigger than the "call the cops and wait for your assailant to take your stuff or hurt your loved ones" alarm industry. The basic Blaster unit rose to the top of the heap with its famous "Shoot First, Lawyer Later" home defense promise.
Beta Lore (unlocked by killing Beta variants)
Thanks to limited, judicious, legal application of Corp lobby funds, the Home Security Liberty Act Also of 2034 followed its predecessor by a scant 6 months, marking the quickest congressional action in recent history. The Act raised the legal autonomous retaliation limit from "enough to subdue one attacker" to "enough to vaporize a small military force", and the Blaster Beta and Gamma Units were born.
Gamma Lore (unlocked by killing Gamma variants)
Blasters weren't originally intended for introduction into Project testing, but Control ruled that removing Units already present at test sites was a waste of perfectly good corporate value, and so they were left. Clever Sitebuilders would have you believe their sometimes irritating placements are sinister design, but they're really all just holdovers from old Sites.
